100th Career Winner: Philip Hall on Glint Of Steel, trained by himself for Pat Wilkins, in the Mens Open at Aldington. Phil opened his account at the age of 20 on Glenavey at Heathfield in 1995. He is the reigning South East area champion, and his tally includes ten under Rules. READ MORE

23 April 2014 North Hereford Meeting Information

After several of the early Welsh Border Area fixtures between the flags were wiped out by water-logging, the North Herefordshire Hunt committee refused to give up hope of running their meeting. Point-to-Point secretary, Frank Morgan entered lengthy negotiations for the fixture to be moved to Hereford Racecourse (HR4 9QU) on Saturday, May 24th, and this enterprising move, now signed and sealed, will certainly provide more opportunities for local horse owners. 19 April 2014 United Pack - Brampton Bryan: Advance going

Wayne Tuffin, clerk of the course for the United Pack Point-to-Point fixture next Saturday (26th) at Brampton Bryan (SY7 0JT) reports that the course has recovered well after the Teme Valley meeting, and that the bends and running lines have been moved wherever possible. Significant rain is forecast in the week, but should it not be sufficient, Wayne is poised with the bowser to provide the best going possible. "It's looking good, and I'm confident it'll be decent ground next Saturday," he said. READ MORE

11 April 2014 Dartmoor - Flete Park: Clydesdale Racing

Saturday 19th April will see a first for a Point-to-Point, the Dartmoor Hunt are featuring a 5 runner Clydesdale race. First seen at Exeter Racecourse, Adventure Clydesdales are once again providing the runners for this unique spectacle. The Clydesdales will be ridden by local Hunt Masters, so there are sure to be thrills and spills. The race will be held in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance, and will be included in a full card of Point-to-Point and Pony races, starting at 1pm. READ MORE

Following the most successful meeting in recent years three weeks ago, Hackwood Park is prepared for the Vine & Craven Point-to-Point on Easter Monday, 21 April. 'The track was put back in shape the day after we raced,' said clerk of the course Bill Welling. 'We put on five tons of topsoil and rails on the bends have been moved in to provide fresh ground for Easter Monday. Rain or no rain there is no way we will have firm ground in ten days time.' There is good grass cover, it was rolled with ring rollars on Friday and is looking great, two fences have been completely re packed and the bends have been moved out so we will not be running on last year's ground. Nick Pearce rode the 100th winner of his career at Godstone on Sunday, and having reached the magic figure promptly hung up his boots. He considers himself very lucky to have been able to retire on his own terms, unlike some who have had it forced upon them through injury or weight problems, and is adamant there will be no comeback. "Although I'm still really enjoying it I always said that's what I'd do, and I wanted to get there before my 31st birthday in two weeks' time." READ MORE

100th winner:One of the senior riders on the Northern area circuit, 47-year-old Andrew Richardson, completed a career century in the Hunts' Club Members at Corbridge on David Carr's Coastley, who in 2009 had given his partner his initial Hunter Chase success.

Andrew, whose tally includes six under Rules, opened his account on the same track in 1999 on Geordies Express, and was area champion in three successive seasons from 2006/7. READ MORE

His term of office was due to end on 31st December but in light of increased commitments in other areas of the racing industry, he with the support of the Board, decided stand down earlier.
