FAQ'S & GET INVOLVED

Intro/Basics

Whilst by no means exhaustive, the aim of this section is to give an insight into Point-to-Pointing and how the meetings operate, what you can expect as a spectator, or how to go about taking your involvement further and racing your own horse.

THE BASICS

What's it all about?

Point-to-Pointing is amateur horseracing over fences, contested by horses who qualify for the races by learning their skills in the hunting field.

Horses running in Point-to-Points must be registered thoroughbreds, except in Hunt Members races and certain other Club Members contests (such as the Pegasus Club Members race).

The horses have to obtain a Hunter Certificate from a Master of Foxhounds, stating that they have hunted for at least four days in the season, whilst Riders can only contest Point-to-Points once they have obtained a certificate from the Point-to-Point Authority.

The other pages in this section give a more detailed description of the sport, as well as all helpful links you may need, be it as a spectator or competitor. Where there is very detailed or technical information that you may require, we have provided links which you can click to be taken to the relevant page or download elsewhere on the website (where there is very specific or technical information involved we have provided links which you can click view PDF to view the PDF document).

The PDF downloads require Adobe Reader to view.
