16 June 2008 Torrington Farmers - Umberleigh

Polly Gundry was crowned national lady riders' champion at the last Point-to-Point of the season held at Umberleigh on Saturday having ridden 39 winners. She just failed to match Polly Curling's all-time record of 40 winners set in 1995, but she became the country's most successful-ever champion having now won the title a record seven times. Rhys Flint, 17, from Kenfig Hill, who equalled the seasonal record number of wins for a novice rider when chalking-up his 25th winner recently, had high hopes of setting a record at the Pembrokeshire Hunt Point-to-Point last Saturday on a horse called Mvezo which for the past three weeks has been trained by his mother Martine. Oliver Greenall, 21, has his first National Men's title well sealed up. The Yorkshire-based rider partnered his 54th winner of the season at sun baked Bratton Down on Sunday to equal Ashley Farrant's record, which has stood for four years. READ MORE

Rhys Flint, 17, chalked-up his 25th Point-to-Point winner of the season when landing the Novice Riders' race on Iris's Prince at the Countryside Alliance (Wales) meeting at Bonvilston on Sunday and in doing so has equalled the number of seasonal wins for a novice rider set by Nick Scholfield last season.
