With summer flying past thoughts will soon be turning to bringing horses back into work - with an eye on early season opportunities. With this in mind, the PPORA would like to give all owners and trainers an early heads-up of our plans for this year’s PPORC meeting.
We are pleased to be able to confirm that we have land-owner consent for our fixture to take place at Barbury Racecourse and that we have applied for a fixture date of Sunday 26th November.
The PPORC meeting is part of our commitment to supporting and strengthening Grassroots Pointing, in this case by providing early season racing opportunities.
Subject to BHA approval, we will replicate the innovative race programme successfully introduced last year as fixture chairman, Steven Astaire, explains:
"Last season the committee decided to make some changes to modernise the race programme with a Mixed Open and a new Conditions race for older horses, which had not won any type of race apart from a Hunt Members for two seasons. Both races had good fields, were popular with owners and trainers, and I hope that they will again fill well in November. It is important that early season meetings vary their programmes to give plenty of choice across November and December."
As noted above, the date and race programme are subject to BHA approval, and once received this will communicated on Facebook and Twitter, as well as on our website www.ppora.co.uk, where further information about the fixture will be provided.
