The Judicial Panel Chairman, His Honour Brian Barker CBE QC, has approved the following penalties under the British Horseracing Authority fast-track system: Jamie Brace / Tricky Silence The Judicial Panel Chairman, His Honour Brian Barker CBE QC, has ratified the disqualification of the following: TRICKY SILENCE (IRE) - breach of Regulation 52 of the BHA Point-to-Point Steeple Chases. On 14 April 2019 TRICKY SILENCE (IRE) finished first in the Timico Mixed Open Race at the Bicester with Whaddon Chase Point-to-Point at Edgcote. The conditions of the race allowed for novice riders to claim 5lbs if they had won 5 or less races under the Rules and Point-to-Point. Jamie Brace, the jockey, had won seven races (five Point-to-Point and two under Rules) and was therefore not eligible for the 5lbs allowance, which resulted in TRICKY SILENCE (IRE) carrying the incorrect weight. Regulation 52 does not allow for a rider to participate in a race unless they complied with the conditions of the race. Mr John Dawson The Judicial Panel Chairman, His Honour Brian Barker CBE QC, has ratified a two month suspension to be imposed on amateur rider Mr John Dawson for a breach of Rule (D)65 of the Rules of Racing in that a urine sample taken from him on 15 March 2019 at Cheltenham tested positive for Tramadol. The Chairman noted that Mr Dawson had given full assistance to the inquiry and that the drug was originally prescribed for his wife and was taken by him to assist with sleeping after a serious shoulder injury. The suspension will run from 31 May 2019 until 18 June 2019 inclusive. The period of suspension is for seven weeks because Mr Dawson was suspended on 22 March 2019 for a week before he was granted his licence to ride again on 29 March 2019 after an application made to the Chairman, so he therefore has already served a week of his suspension. Notes to Editors: 1. More information about the fast-track system can be found here. Please note, the BHA Judicial Panel is an independent body which encompasses the Disciplinary Panel, Appeal Board and Licensing Committee. It receives administrative support from the BHA via the Judicial Panel Secretary. |
