Eleven British pointers head to Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale

  • Posted: Thursday, 21st April 2022

Eleven horses who have run in British point-to-points this season will be going under the hammer at Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale tomorrow

Held at the racecourse, the sale comprises 71 catalogued lots and is set to get underway at 1pm.

The initial British representative is Stellar Stream (Lot 2), who was placed twice before winning a maiden race at Buckfastleigh for Neil McLean's stable. He is followed by Copper Fox (Lot 3), who finished second in a maiden race at Fakenham for Tom and Gina Ellis, and is one of three horses the couple are offering. The others are Intrepide Sud (Lot 41), who won at Garthorpe, and is out of a mare who was a half-sister to Welsh National winner Raz De Maree, and Good Boy (Lot 65), who lived up to his name when winning a maiden under Murray Dodd at Sandon on Saturday. The four-year-old is a half-brother to the smart Eden Du Houx.

Trainer/rider Dale Peters is selling Byorderofthecourt (Lot 6), who he rode to victory at Mollington recently, while Fran and Charlie Poste are offering two young horses from their Warwickshire stable. They are Rock House (Lot 9), who won in good style at Chaddesley Corbett on Easter Saturday, and Diamond Tiki (Lot 17), who was second of ten runners in a recent point-to-point Flat race at Maisemore Park.

Top Target (Lot 26) started this season running in an Irish point-to-point before switching stables and joining Chris Barber in Dorset. He soon made a mark, winning a maiden race at Cothelstone from Ninth Wave and Westhill who both won next time out.

Nordadler (Lot 68) made his debut at Sandon when saddled by former British women's champion rider Claire Bonner, who won the title under her maiden name of Allen. Her husband, Chris, consigns the four-year-old tomorrow, when the British contingent is completed by Tufton Avenue (Lot 70), who won a maiden race at Paxford on Monday for Maurice Linehan's yard.
