Exciting mare Feuille De Lune joins Greenall and Guerriero

One of point-to-pointing’s most exciting mares is set to make her hurdling debut after joining the Cheshire stable of licensed trainers Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.

A seven-year-old daughter of Saddler Maker, the AQPS-bred Feuille De Lune (pictured above entering the winner’s enclosure at Cheltenham) blitzed her way through last season when winning five races from the Leicestershire stable run by Kelly Morgan. She ran in the colours of The Snail Syndicate, but a controlling interest in her was held by Sir Johnny Weatherby, who is Greenall’s uncle.

Greenall, who was himself a former British men’s point-to-point champion rider, said: “She arrived here yesterday, was ridden out today and is a lovely horse to have in the yard.

“Kelly did a great job with her and I hope we can build on that success. She will start off over hurdles.”

Feuille De Lune’s racing career began in Ireland with Co Wexford trainer Donnchadh Doyle for whom she finished placed in two point-to-points. She was then off the track for 22 months before making her debut for Morgan at Revesby Park in November last year.

Setting off in front under Alice Stevens, the partnership did not see either of their two rivals until past the finishing line, and that exuberant-running style was maintained when Feuille De Lune hacked up at Charing, Sheriff Hutton and Charm Park.

She was then given the task of tackling the mares’ race at Cheltenham’s evening hunters’ chase meeting where she was in control by half-way, and despite jumping right at a number of fences won easing down.
