Postes join Q&A talk on pointing and racing

One of point-to-pointing’s top teams, Fran and Charlie Poste, will be taking part in a racing and pointing Q&A in Shropshire next Friday (July 29).

The Postes will be joining a panel involving Jump trainer Henry Daly and Ludlow clerk of the course Simon Sherwood – famously known for his association with the great Desert Orchid – at the event which is hosted by the Ludlow Hunt. Racing journalist Carl Evans will chair the panel.

The Postes, who train from a yard in Warwickshire, recorded their best tally of winners during the most recent point-to-point season, during which Fran saddled 25 winners. She and her husband run a yard combining older horses and commercial four- and five-year-olds, and the couple have been attending all the recent store sales buying unbroken stock to run in point-to-points. Charlie is a former Jump jockey whose roles now include jockey coach.

Daly has trained more than 600 winners over jumps and is a former clerk of the course at Bitterley point-to-point course, while Sherwood, who rode 350 winners in just eight seasons as a professional jockey, has been clerk at Ludlow since 2014. The course is well known for its support and staging of hunter chases.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm at the kennels, cost £15 for adults and £10 for younger racing enthusiasts under 16. Further details and tickets from Henry Bailey – 07834 641078.
