Become an owner
Become a Jockey
Over half of the professional jockeys riding today cut their teeth in the Point-to-Pointing arena in the UK. Richard Johnson, Sam Twiston-Davies, Harry Skelton, Tom Scudamore, Nico de Boinville and Daryl Jacob are a few of the current crop.
Become a Trainer
Officially, there is no such thing as a Point-to-Point Trainer (the term usually applies to licensed trainers under Rules), although many people do prepare horses for Point-to-Points on behalf of the Owner(s).
Become an official
If you are interested in becoming an Official, talk to a current meeting organiser. Experience of riding under Rules or at a Point-to-Point, or experience acting as a steward on a licensed racecourse, is preferable but not always essential.
Become a volunteer
As all Point-to-Point meetings throughout the UK are run by volunteers, there is always the need for extra pairs of hands to help with the preparation – it can be a large operation and any assistance, great or small, is always welcomed!
